Purge Postponed Until Autumn! - We’ve won an important battle: the purge law has been taken off the agenda, and Parliament will not discuss this outrageously dark, authoritarian proposal until at least autumn.
A wave of nationwide protests and actions has begun in response to the proposed law targeting independent civil society and the press. The actions were organized by civil society organizations and outraged citizens. The Civilisation Coalition took part in the Budapest demonstration with two speakers, and supported protests and actions in other cities by providing civil-themed materials - including banners, stickers, and t-shirts.

Free Press, Free Civic Society! – Civil activists carried out a successful action during the May 27, 2025 session of the Parliament’s Justice Committee, protesting against the adoption of the so-called purge law targeting civil society organizations and the independent press.
We’re staying–for all of us. We stood up against the proposed purge law in Budapest, Pécs, Miskolc, and Szeged.
More than 125 Hungarian NGOs and 1500 individuals protested against the adoption of the law, which only protects the arbitrary interests of those in power.
